Snap Shot – Jin Mao Tower, Shanghai

This picture taken in a moving cab, reminds me of Fritz Lang’s futuristic 1927 film “Metropolis”. Formerly the tallest building in Shanghai (now eclipsed by the World Financial Center), Jin Mao means “Golden Prosperity Building”. The architecture was designed to reflect a tiered pagoda, but to me it reflects a distinctive Art Deco aesthetic.
